About Me:
I am thrilled to be part of the Marie Murphy community as the 6th grade LBS! After receiving a BA in Spanish from Grinnell College, I began my career in special education as a paraprofessional at Glencoe Central School. There, I fell in love with teaching and decided to pursue a Master's degree from National Louis University. After graduating, I taught at Jungman Elementary School in the Pilsen neighborhood of Chicago for 5 years. At Jungman, I co-taught math and language arts for the 6-8 grade band for 3 years before piloting the middle school Autism Center Program. In 2017, I moved to Denver, Colorado and co-taught 6th and 7th grade math for 4 years before moving to a private practice where I worked as a dyscalculia and dyslexia specialist. Even though I miss the mountains, I am so excited to be back in Chicago closer to my family and childhood friends! When I am not at school, you can usually find me spending time baking or taking my dog, Wrigley, to the lake.
