In order to register, students must be 3 before the start of the school year. Class size is limited and once limits have been met, students will be placed on a waitlist. Please return forms as quickly as possible in order to secure a spot in either the AM or PM class. It is highly recommended that 3-year-old students register for the AM class and 4-year-old students register for the PM class.

Art in Action
This year, Art in Action day at Avoca West will take place on Wednesday, February 1. For those of you new to our district, Art in Action is a PTC-sponsored program that brings fine arts into the classroom. For one day at Avoca West, the gymnasium is transformed into an art studio where 8 to 10 visiting artists set up shop and help all of our students, kindergarten through fifth grade, prepare a fine arts project to take home. Students enjoy participating in the creative process and learning about the versatility of the artistic talents of people in our own community.

We still have a few spots for volunteers! Sign Up to Volunteer Here.

Silent Auction is Almost Here
This year's Silent Auction will run from January 26 through February 26! We will have items in the air (flying with and without a plane), on water (jet ski), on the snow (kids' ski trip), in theaters, on ice, in pools, on courts (pickleball equipment), in sports arenas, on the road (motorcycle riding class), in front of cameras (portraits), on sidewalks (skateboards), in museums, with swords, in fire trucks, on horses, escaping from rooms, in gardens, at music festivals, in studios, running through mud, on a golf course, in gyms, on fields (baseball & soccer), in dojos, on massage tables, and in bars. We are also being promised some surprises in this auction that will shock and amaze us.

Consider Donating to the Viking Fund
The Viking Fund provides families facing hardship with financial support to cover all or part of Avoca's athletic, Science Olympiad, band, orchestra, and school play fees. Started in 2019 and seeded by the PTC, the fund requires approximately $12,000 in donations per year to sustain itself. Right now, the balance is down to approximately $4,500, which means not all students in need can access the programs that help Avoca Inspire Curiosity, Cultivate Academic Growth, and Nurture Diversity.

We hope you consider making a donation today. Each donor will receive a custom Avoca magnet

Fun Fair Volunteers Needed
We need volunteers to help put on the largest school event of the year, the 2023 Avoca West Fun Fair on February 26, 2023. The Fun Fair is an annual event where the school is transformed into a carnival-like atmosphere with games, music, fun activities, prizes, teacher raffles, and a silent auction for parents.
