At its March 21, 2019 meeting, the Board of Education approved the hiring of Kristen Moore as the District’s next Director of Pupil Services.  Ms. Moore comes from District 73 ½ in Skokie, where she has served as Director of Student Services for the last five years. While there, Ms. Moore had the primary leadership responsibility for Special Education and English Learner services for the three schools that make up District 73 ½ .

Prior to her five years of leadership in 73 1/2, for four years Kristen was the Managing Director of Specialized Services at Chicago Bulls College Prep, part of the Noble Charter Network in Chicago.  She started as a Special Education teacher in Chicago, where she worked in the classroom in that capacity for four years.

Ms. Moore advanced through a rigorous interview process that included multiple rounds and different groups of stakeholders, including staff, parents, current and future Avoca administrators.  Kevin Jauch, Avoca Superintendent said, “Throughout the entire process, Ms. Moore stood out with her experience and strong knowledge base complimented by her confident, calm demeanor.” Incoming Superintendent Kaine Osburn said, “"I am grateful to the Avoca team for bringing forward such high quality candidates for consideration. Kristen clearly rose to the top, and I am excited to start my tenure at Avoca with her as part of the team."

Upon being approved by the Board of Education, Ms. Moore said “I am thrilled to join the Avoca Community.  I am impressed with the focus on student growth and the development of the whole child, the small and supportive community feel, and the caliber of the staff and administrators at Avoca.  I am looking forward to working with and building relationships with the Avoca community to fully realize and maximize each students’ unique potential.”

Ms. Moore starts her position July 1, 2019.
