e-Learning Plan for Emergency Days

In accordance with Section 10-20.56 of the Illinois School Code [105 ILCS 5/10-20.56], school districts may, through a formally adopted resolution, implement "e-learning days" in place of emergency days. In addition to being reviewed and approved by the Regional Office of Education and Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE), the school board is required to hold a public hearing prior to the adoption or renewal of the program. A board hearing to review the district’s eLearning Plan was held on February 8, 2024

Avoca School District 37 is committed to providing uninterrupted learning through our Emergency e-Learning Plan, activated during emergencies that would otherwise result in school closures. We understand the impact e-learning days may have on families and recognize that students are best served, academically and socially, when physically present in school. However, the safety of our students and staff remains our top priority, especially when faced with decisions around inclement weather and school closures.
