Avoca Families, Students & Staff in the News
Avoca District 37’s version of a Giving Tree took the community piece a step further this year. Every family in need was an Avoca family. For the most part, Avoca’s extra-curricular activities, such as school clubs, have been on hiatus in 2020 because of COVID-19. A group of students, however, fought to keep Roots and Shoots, a division of the nationwide service club founded by Jane Goodall, alive during the holidays so they could give back. Innovation Grants Drive
What are Avoca Innovation Grants? Avoca District's Innovation Grants promote innovation in and out of the classroom by providing innovation project and material funding to faculty who demonstrate an extraordinary commitment to our children’s future. For example, Spring 2020 Innovation Grant winners Christine Nehring and Allison Yambor were awarded: Developing an SEL Library of Read Aloud Literature (Books for Avoca School Library including 6 sections of SEL topics with 20 books in each section).
