Thank you to the Avoca West room parents who did an excellent job organizing a special week for our amazing teachers last week. Special thanks to Erin Loder, Mary Gaspar, and Dorothy Elfring for organizing wonderful teacher appreciation luncheons.

Save the Date
The annual Bike-to-School Day will take place on Thursday, May 26.

Marie Murphy 2022 Spring Cleanup
AW Earth Day cleanup was a blast - let's do it again! Grab your family members to help clean up the Marie Murphy grounds on Saturday, May 21 from 9-10:30 a.m. Donuts and juice will be provided to volunteers. Avoca’s PTC Green Committee will provide gloves and bags for the cleanup and direct volunteers. If you have work gloves or a small bucket at home, please bring them along to use during the cleanup. Every piece of trash picked up helps clean up our school and community and keeps our environment beautiful for all. Questions or interested in helping the Green Committee? Email Maya at [email protected]

Approved: Avoca's New Mission Statement, Portrait of a Graduate, & Strategic Plan
After a process that started in October of 2021 and included feedback from hundreds and hundreds of stakeholders, including our Strategic Planning Committee meeting for over 20 hours, the Board of Education helped us move into the future its May 5, 2022 Board meeting by approving:

A New Mission Statement that identifies the most important work we do with our students daily
A Portrait of a Graduate which describes the qualities we want all of our students to have developed by the time they graduate
A Strategic Plan outlining our most important actions that make fulfilling our mission impossible
