About Me:
Kristi Byrd came to Avoca West as a long term maternity substitute 8 years ago.  After subbing, she was hired as the kindergarten teacher.  After 3 years of teaching kindergarten, she moved to 2nd grade.  2019-2020 is Mrs. Byrd's 4th year teaching 2nd grade.  She recently completed her 2nd Master's Degree in Reading.  Mrs. Byrd lives in Edison Park with her husband and 2 children.  When she is not in school, she is enjoys spending time at her children's activities.  

Teaching Philosophy:
As a teacher of young children, it is important for students to feel safe and welcome in their learning environment.  Developing a love of school, where students are excited to come to school each day to discover and learn is my goal.
