3/13 - PTC Meeting
PTC Open Meeting
The PTC welcomes our community to attend the next open PTC meeting, which will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 13, at Marie Murphy. Click here to see the agenda.
Reminder about Election Day
Election Day is Tuesday, March 19. If approved, Avoca 37’s referendum will:
- Address safety/security needs and facility challenges at Avoca West by replacing it with a new school that is equal to the quality of education we provide our students.
- Create space to address learning needs at Marie Murphy
- Complete all necessary life, safety, and maintenance upgrades at Marie Murphy to keep it in good working condition.

8th Grade Pizza Fundraiser
Order a pizza on March 20th between 4 and 10 p.m., and you'll support a great cause and contribute to the 8th-grade graduation party fund. For every pizza bought, 20% of the order value will directly fund the event.
5th Grade Party Reminder
Mark your calendars for a memorable party on May 31! Here's what we need from our 5th-grade parents/guardians:
- Complete the 5th Grade Party Form: We appreciate your support through a $40 contribution per family. You can pay online, by check (addressed to Avoca PTC), or in cash. Please ensure your payment is labeled with your child's name and teacher. Also, Venmo payments can be made to @clarey2k. Remember to add your student's full name.
- Share a memory: We'd love a 4x6 photo from your child's kindergarten days. Submit a hard copy to your class teacher or email a digital copy to [email protected]. Group photos from their time at AW are welcome too! Please only send group shots taken at school events; no pictures from birthday parties/play dates will be used. These memories will feature in our special video montage.
We are counting on you to submit your forms, payments, and photos by March 29. Let's create an unforgettable party for our 5th graders!

Summer Enrichment Programs (SEP)
We're in the middle of the sign-up period for our Summer Enrichment Programs (SEP). You can access the registration link until Friday, March 22, on the Wilmette District 39 website. The summer classes cater to K-7 grade students. Take a look at the Summer class offerings brochure online at SEP Class Offerings 2024. If teachers have recommended R&R (Review & Reinforcement) classes for your child, register them for the suggested subjects. The R&R recommendations are based on classroom performance, MAP scores, and curriculum-related assessments. Please sign up your child for their current grade level in the 2023-2024 academic year, not their future grade.
The Avoca handles transportation for its students attending the Summer programs, not Wilmette District 39. To arrange for the Avoca Summer bus service, get in touch with Dawn Scaramuzza in the Student Services office at [email protected] or 847-728-4142.
