Parent-Teacher Conferences Registration
Fall 2022 Parent-Teacher Conferences will be held remotely via Zoom on October 26 and 27. These will be 1/2 days for students. There is no student attendance on October 28. Please be sure to register via Meet the Teacher before the portal closes on October 24 at 4:00 p.m. Directions for parents on how to navigate Meet the Teacher can be found here. Parents will receive Zoom links on the day of conferences.

Avoca West Author Visits
Students in grades K-1 are getting excited to welcome award-winning author, Salina Yoon, to Avoca West on Friday, October 14th! You may order a personalized copy of Ms. Yoon's new book for your child online here. If you prefer a paper order form, please print it and send it to school with your child by October 12th.
On October 18th, Students in grades 4-5 are equally excited to welcome New York Times best-selling authors, Daniel Kraus and Lisi Harrison! Mr. Kraus and Ms. Harrison will be sharing their new book, Graveyard Girls. This slightly scary addictive book is the first in a five-book series. You may learn more about the book and order a personalized copy online here. If you prefer a paper order form, click here to print it and send it to school with your child by October 14. We are so grateful to The Book Stall in Winnetka for bringing us these wonderful opportunities to learn about the writing process from some of the very best!

Halloween Returns to Avoca West
After some years away from our typical Halloween activities, Avoca West will be moving to mark the day for our students with an afternoon celebration. We will also consider more inclusive ways to celebrate with a Fall Festival for those who do not celebrate Halloween. 7th Annual Intercultural Dinner & Talent Show
On Friday, November 18, 2022, from 6-9 p.m., the PTC and the CommunIDEE subcommittee will be hosting the 7th Annual Intercultural Dinner and Talent Show. In the past, this beloved event drew over 400 people from our community! Our families cook homemade dishes from around the world - from the U.S. to Tibet and everywhere in between. Due to the scale of the event, we're in need of many volunteers as possible to contribute their time, food, and talent!
Our Ask:
1. Mark your calendar and look out for upcoming emails, which will include FAQs, forms to contribute food, and a Volunteer SignUp Genius.
2. Consider what dish(es) you want to bring. We want anything and everything you would like to share, even if it is not part of your ethnic origin.
3. Our Talent Show showcases our extraordinarily talented children. Submit all talent acts [email protected]. Limited spots are available. All talents are welcome!
