5Essentials Survey
Please click here to take the annual 5Essentials Survey about your experience with our district. The window will close on March 31. The survey is administered to parents, students, and staff to assess views on our academics, overall climate and connection with one another, and leadership. The feedback is compiled by the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) into a report that is included in each school's published state report card. Higher participation rates positively impact our report card!

Silent Auction Update
We reached incredible milestones with the 2023 auction. We raised more than $70,000 - the largest amount ever raised in the auction's history. Also, Ross was interviewed by local news outlets, we exceeded our goal and raised the largest amount to date, and we had some amazing prizes and the most unique offerings in our auction history!

Be sure to check out our donor page on the PTC website which lists all businesses that donated to our auction!

A special thank you to our PTC president, Ross Friedman, and Director of Fundraising, Kristen Barry for making this year’s auction such a success! Thank you to everyone who donated items, participated, and shared the auction with neighbors, friends, and family. We are so grateful to be supported by such a wonderful community.

Volleyball Tournament Fundraiser Recap
The 8th Grade Graduation Committee would like to thank the Avoca West/Marie Murphy Community for making our volleyball tournament and fundraiser a huge success. We had 12 teams participating, including 6th, 7th, and 8th graders, and many fans that came out to cheer on the action on the two courts. Some of the games were so intense that the fans were shaking the rafters with their cheering. Special thanks to Hal and Patricia Fuentes and Elizabeth Evans Ryan for Chairing this event, MM Barley-Jenkins and Norma Hoerdemann for their help with the Raffle, to our many parent and high school volunteers, and to our fantastic teaching staff and administration who gave us tons of support in planning, organizing and executing. The kids had so much fun, whether they were playing, cheering, or just mingling!  It was wonderful to see our Viking Spirit in full force.

Evereve Shop, Sip & Snack 8th Grade Fundraiser
Shop, Sip & Snack at Evereve women’s clothing store in the Glen Town Center from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday, March 2, and Evereve will donate 15% of its sales to the Marie Murphy 8th Grade Graduation! Fun Fair Recap
Thank you to everyone that came out to the Fun Fair. We hope that everyone had a blast. We are so happy that so many students joined in the fun. We can't wait to host it again next year.

Avoca West Kindergarten Information Night

Upcoming Author Visit at Avoca West
The Book Stall in Winnetka is bringing author Tim Fite to speak with Avoca K-2 graders on Thursday, March 9 about his new picture book, A Bucket of Questions! Why do kids lose their teeth? Why do seals clap? What is at the bottom of the ocean?

Artist and musician Tim Fite is here to answer your most important questions—and then some!—in this marvelously wacky, utterly imaginative, and irreverently playful picture book.

A printed order form for personalized, signed copies of the book will be sent home with students this week. In addition, you may order a copy online here. All orders are due by Monday, March 6.
