ABCs of Kindergarten

  • A If you’re going to be ABSENT, please call our school nurse at 847-724-6800.

  • G In Kindergarten, we GO OUTSIDE for recess every day. Please be sure to dress appropriately for the weather.
  • H Kindergarten school HOURS are 8:20am-3:00pm.  If we have a 1/2 day, the hours will be from 8:50am-11:45am.
  • I Stop by the ITC (Information Technology Center).  You will see Mrs. Geidner each week for book check out in the ITC.
  • J We JUST cannot stress enough how important reading is!  Read to your child and encourage your child to read to you.
  • K Kindergarten is full of KINDNESS!  We work on SEL all day to make sure everyone feels safe and welcome!
  • L Kindergarten students have LUNCH every day.  If your child is ordering hot lunch, please be sure to add funds online to their account.  Questions, please check out this link: http://avoca37.org/parentsandcommunity/lunch/.
  • M Please do not zoom through our parking lot.  The MAIN parking lot is closed during drop off and pick up for safety.  If you are picking your child up after school, please wait in the pickup line on the North side of the school.
  • N Our Classrooms are now NUT-FREE.  Please be sure to send a healthy snack every day to school with your child.  Remember these need to be nut-free!
  • O Our classrooms are OPEN to celebrity readers, please schedule a visit with your teacher!
  • P Kindergarten will have PHYSICAL EDUCATION every day!  Please be sure your child wears or brings gym shoes every day to school.
  • Q Kindergarten goes by so QUICKLY.  Please remember that it is a journey, not a race.  Enjoy the little moments!
  • R Please REMEMBER that your child will be marked tardy if they arrive after 8:30am.  Please be sure to get your child to school on-time. 
  • S Please pack two nut-free SNACKS for your child to enjoy throughout the day. These snacks should be packed separately from your child's lunch and should be in easy-to-open containers.
  • T Be sure to follow your child’s class on the class blog, Seesaw, TWITTER or FACEBOOK to keep up with the latest updates.
  • U  We know that each and every child is UNIQUE, and we do our best to maximize their potential.
  • V  We will have 4 parties this school year: Halloween, Winter, VALENTINE’S DAY, and End of the Year.  If you’d like to help out, please contact our Room Parents.
