MTSS Parent Night
Join us Wednesday, September 21 at 7 p.m. via Zoom for our first Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) Parent Night of the year! We'll discuss how this integral framework guides us in providing the appropriate instruction and interventions necessary to ensure all students receive the education and support they need to succeed. The Zoom link will be posted on the district's homepage on September 21.

Recap: 8th Grade Car Wash
Our heartfelt thanks to the entire Avoca D37 Community for coming out to support the Mare Murphy 8th Grade Car Wash on Saturday. The Car Wash was the most successful in recent school history! Thanks to all of you – our parents/caregivers, our school staff, and especially our students, we exceeded our fundraising goal by 33%. These funds help defray the cost of the graduation ceremony and end-of-year events for our deserving 8th graders. Any 8th Grade parent/guardian who wants to get involved with the Committee or wants to learn more about our year-long fundraising and planning process is welcome to join us at one of our upcoming meetings. Individual and class prizes will be announced as soon as the final envelopes are in.
Avoca Diverse Learners
Avoca Diverse Learners' fall kick-off meeting will take place on Wednesday, September 28 from 7-8:15 p.m. in the MM ITC. Speaker and Director of Student Services Kristen Moore will lead the topic "The ABCs of IEPs and 504 Plans." ADL is a support and resource group for parents of children with IEPs/504s and with all needs, including ADD, ADHD, anxiety, autism, depression, and dyslexia. We also have members whose children have no formal diagnosis. This event is open to all district parents and caregivers. This year's parent co-leaders are Helen Lucaitis (312-550-2077) and Maria Niehus (847-544-8585).

Silent Auction Committee
Did you know the Silent Auction Committee raised almost $30,000 for the school PTC last year? Sign up for this spectacular group, which raises funds for purchasing educational supplies and school equipment, and supports school events for Avoca West and Marie Murphy. We need several fearless volunteers to work together with the PTC President and our Director of Fundraising to secure donations from local businesses. This is an excellent opportunity to meet the Avoca community and local business owners. No past fundraising experience is needed! Marie Murphy Room Fees
We're still collecting $25 per child donations towards MM room fees, which fund winter holiday and end-of-year gifts for teachers, staff, bus drivers, and facilities staff.
